Growing up as an army brat and moving often to different bases throughout my childhood has given me a perspective on life that only as an adult I could finally appreciate. Finding excitement in new challenges and taking immense pleasure in discovering other cultures has been a driving force in my life. It has taught me, among other things, the more we seem to be different, the more we actually are the same.

In 1991 a personal and business opportunity, coupled with my sense of adventure brought me to Brussels, Belgium. I spent the next 15 years doing business throughout the European Community. During my years in Brussels I also pursued my passion for the martial arts. As with other sports, it is demanding both physically and mentally. It takes years to perfect and a sincere commitment. Even though it is often viewed as an aggressive sport, with its share of injuries, it has another side to it, teaching self-discipline, respect and mostly, a powerful sense of inner personal strength. The more you learn & practice this sport, the more centered & calm you become in your practice.

I had begun to contemplate returning to the United States with my Belgian husband. We had been visiting family in Charleston, SC each year during our holidays and, after one such trip, we decided as we were flying back to Belgium to make Charleston our new home.

Why real estate? It seemed the most logical progression for me professionally. With my background in languages, my joy in meeting new people and the challenge of what this profession offers – independence, growth, creativity, business acumen and most important, human skills. The thrill of witnessing the joy in the faces of my clients, as they receive the keys to their new home, where years of memories are ahead for them. It’s contagious and is the force that pushes me further. Guiding a proud homeowner to showcase their beloved home in its best light, to stand out from other similar properties, is just as challenging. Charleston offers architectural styles for every taste, and the joy of finding the right fit makes it a worthwhile profession.
